Getting started

Do I need a specific career or decision in mind before I begin?

No. You can begin whether you are choosing a field of study, considering a career change, or simply want to understand your strengths and priorities better. We use assessments and conversation to clarify your values, aptitudes, and interests, then explore how that information can guide your choices.

Is this career coaching?

The purpose of my work is to build self-understanding and agency: a clearer sense of who you are and greater confidence in making choices for yourself. Through assessment, reflection, personal conversation, and synthesis, we explore what matters to you, what comes naturally, and which possibilities could fit your life and work.

My aim is for you to leave equipped to weigh your options, explain your strengths, and take thoughtful action—with understanding and resources you can use independently, long after our conversations end.

What happens during the introductory conversation?

The introductory conversation is complimentary. We talk about what you are navigating, what you hope to understand, and which way of working together might fit. You can ask about the assessments, scheduling, costs, or what the finished work looks like. I can walk you through sample materials and explain how clients have used what they learned. It is also a chance for us to get to know each other and decide whether working together feels right.

Are conversations in person or over video?

Most conversations take place by video, allowing us to work together regardless of location. In-person meetings may also be possible when location and circumstances make sense.

Individual work

What does the full individual engagement include, and what does it cost?

The full individual engagement is $2,950. It includes the assessments and reflection exercises used throughout our work, one-to-one conversations, interpretation and synthesis, your professionally printed Clarity book, and your Individual Growth Plan. It also includes our conversations about the finished book and how to put what you have learned to use. Together, we explore your values, aptitudes, and interests—and consider how they fit within the circumstances and possibilities of your life.

Will I leave with specific career directions to explore?

Yes. The full individual process includes four personalized purpose and career pathways that connect what drives you, what you are naturally good at, and interests with economic potential. This work draws on the economic and labor market expertise of Becoming You Labs, bringing current and emerging opportunities into the picture. Each pathway describes a possible direction, the kinds of roles it could involve, and why it may fit your particular combination of values, aptitudes, and interests.

Some possibilities may be unfamiliar. Others may involve work that is emerging or does not appear neatly under an obvious job title. Exploring them can mean looking beyond posted openings to understand what an organization needs and where you could contribute. Together, we consider how to investigate those possibilities: which organizations to research, what questions to ask, whom to speak with, and what experience or skills you may need to develop. Your Individual Growth Plan helps translate that exploration into next steps.

You also develop more precise language for explaining your strengths and connecting them to the work an employer needs done. Your assessment results, personal experience, and research give that conversation substance. The goal is to help you approach your future with informed options, a clearer understanding of your potential contribution, and the confidence to take initiative.

Can I start with something smaller?

Yes. Understand Your Values is a focused introduction that includes the Values Bridge assessment, guided reflection, and two personal conversations, typically over two weeks, for $500.

Developed by Dr. Suzy Welch and the team at Becoming You Labs, the Values Bridge ranks your 16 values, reveals where they reinforce one another or create tension, and measures how closely your life reflects them. Together, we explore what those findings mean in your life and what actually drives your decisions.

You leave with your assessment results, language for priorities you may have struggled to explain, and a clearer foundation for deciding what to protect, what might need to change, and which trade-offs you are willing to make. This work can stand on its own or become the first step in the full individual process. You do not need to commit to the full engagement to begin.

What if I want to continue after Understand Your Values?

If you choose to continue into the full individual engagement, the $500 is credited toward the $2,950 total, leaving a remaining balance of $2,450. We build on the values work already completed and continue into aptitudes, interests, and the broader synthesis that becomes your Clarity book and Individual Growth Plan.

How long does the full process take?

If we move through the discovery work weekly, your printed Clarity book will typically be in your hands around weeks eight to ten. The first five weeks generally involve assessments, reflection, and conversations. I then bring what we have discovered together into your book, followed by professional printing and shipping.

After you have read the book, we meet to consider what it means for your next steps and develop your Individual Growth Plan. The book’s arrival is a milestone within the process.

How much time should I allow each week?

During the discovery phase, plan for an assessment or set of reflection exercises followed by a 60-minute video conversation. Assessment time varies. Some are brief, 20-30 minutes, others take closer to 90 minutes. A useful planning range is approximately 1½–2½ hours during most discovery weeks, with additional time to read your results and reflect.

That reflection matters. Our conversations give you room to share what resonated, what surprised you, and what does not immediately seem to fit. This is where we begin connecting the results to your actual experience.

Can I move more slowly or pause between steps?

Yes. We agree on a pace that works for you. Weekly conversations provide a helpful rhythm, but you may need more time to complete an assessment, absorb what you are learning, or accommodate other responsibilities. If you need more space between stages, the timeline expands accordingly.

What happens after I receive my book?

Once you have read your book, we discuss what stands out and what deserves your attention next. From that conversation, I develop your Individual Growth Plan. Depending on your circumstances, it may identify directions to investigate, conversations to have, priorities to pursue, or changes that could help your life and work fit you more closely.

For a student, that might involve exploring fields of study or environments in which they could thrive. For someone considering a career change, it might mean investigating roles, articulating strengths, or testing a possibility before making a major commitment. The plan is a working document we review and refine together as you decide where to focus.

Students and families

How do you work with high school and college students?

I help students understand their strengths, values, and interests so they can explore their options with greater confidence. My background includes a master’s degree in education and experience teaching high school students. There are two ways we can work together:

  • The individual process, culminating in a personalized Clarity book and Individual Growth Plan.

  • The 12-week Purpose Practicum, a proprietary Becoming You Labs curriculum designed specifically for high school and college-aged students. I have been selected by Becoming You Labs to facilitate this program.

We discuss parent involvement at the outset, considering the student’s age and circumstances. Together, we establish how parents will participate and how findings will be shared, supporting meaningful family conversations while helping students take ownership of their choices.

During our initial conversation, we’ll discuss your student’s circumstances, which approach may fit, and the details of availability, format, pricing, and what’s included.

Leaders and teams

How can this work help a leader or team?

The goal is to help leaders have better growth conversations and build a culture people can understand. For a founder or leader, we clarify the values and expectations shaping the culture you want to create—and find language to communicate them clearly. For team members, we explore their strengths, motivations, and working preferences, giving managers and employees a more useful starting point for conversations about contribution, support, and development.

What does a team engagement involve?

We can begin with a founder, a leadership group, or selected team members. Through assessments and individual conversations, I develop an understanding of each person and bring the findings together in personalized Clarity Snapshots.

Depending on the scope, we may also create Individual Growth Plans and a Team At-a-Glance showing shared strengths and meaningful differences. These resources help turn insight into practical conversations: What does this person want to develop? Where could they contribute more? What support would help?

During our intitial conversation, we’ll discuss what you want the work to accomplish and agree on the participants, deliverables, how findings will be shared, timing, and pricing.
